What is the difference between a DWI and DUI?

There really is no difference between a DWI and a DUI in Minnesota. DWI means driving while impaired and DUI means driving under the influence.

In both cases, the state is alleging that you drank alcohol (or used drugs) and that it affected your ability to safely operate the vehicle you were driving or operating. The terms are used interchangeably.
